SINGING DANCING AND ALL THAT JAZZ

Jazz man Rahsaan Roland Kirk wrote a tune that could describe much of my work: "Bright Moments."

Like Kirk and other jazz musicians, I love to improvise. I let the cloth direct me on a journey to the finished work, using a visual vocabulary that is a mixture of traditional quilt patterns, forged with some of my own imagery, repetitive patterns, color juxtapositions, impressions and experimentations.
The fabric art in this section is particularly attuned to the music that inspires me; not only jazz but the blues and gospel.

Each composition is a bright moment meant for singing, dancing, and celebrating.
